Make-A-Wish Foundation, 1054 New Holland Ave., Lancaster PA 17601
The Truck Convoy has been our main fundraiser for the past 18 years, and as we begin the planning stages of our 19th year, I would like to take a moment to reflect on years past. In 1990 with a simple wish of a brother and sister wanting to ride in a big truck and talk on the CB radio, our Convoy was born. With 43 trucks and almost $8,000 raised, it was decided to make it an annual event. With word of the Convoy traveling throughout the trucking industry and the community, in 2003 our Convoy set the Guinness World Record for the “The Worlds Longest Truck Convoy” with 288 trucks. The very next year (our 15th anniversary), we broke our own record with 391 trucks. Each year our Convoy has grown and raised in excess of $250,000. In 2007 we had over 430 trucks and raised over $330,000. Make-A-Wish Foundation is appreciative of the funds raised but more importantly, so are the nearly 100 children who received wishes within our five counties including, Lancaster, Lebanon, Dauphin, Cumberland, and Perry.
