Seventeen-year-old Dustin enjoys fairways and airwaves. More specifically, he enjoys the game of golf, as well as radio and television airwaves when country artist Vince Gill is crooning his ballads. The teen put his loves together when volunteers from the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Missouri offered him a wish. He asked to play a round of golf with Gill, a Grammy and Country Music Award winner.
Dustin and his family traveled from Missouri to Nashville, Tennessee, to meet with the humble artist. Dustin and his hero hit the golf links for 18 holes. The two bonded quickly and became fast friends. After the round was over, Vince suggested that Dustin and his family accompany him and his wife – singer Amy Grant – to a hockey game.
After the group took in some action at the ice rink, Vince had a special treat for Dustin. He brought the family to the Grand Ole Opry – hallowed ground in the country music community. As if just being inside the auditorium wasn't enough, Vince invited Dustin to play the guitar with him on stage during his performance, and the excited teen – of course – obliged.
The next day, the family headed back home to Missouri, but not before doing a little sightseeing. Not surprisingly, many people recognized Dustin as the boy who played guitar with Vince Gill on stage.
