Twelve-year-old Nick was not much of a James Bond fan until his brother loaned him some James Bond video games. The games sparked his interest in the agent known as “007,” so much so that he asked wish granters from the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Central & Northern Florida to help him meet the man known as “Bond…James Bond.”

Wish granters arranged for Nick to meet James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan during filming for “Die Another Day,” the 20th official installment in the James Bond film series. Nick traveled from Deltona, Fla., to the studios in London, England, just to meet his hero. But the meeting started off on an odd note when the excited boy arrived on the set. Pierce was not there. It turned out that the actor was not filming that day and had the day off. After waiting two years for his wish, Nick was nervous that he would have to wait some more.

Just as James Bond always saves the day, so did Brosnan. Word of the mishap got back to the actor, and he called the studio with a solution – just meet him at the restaurant near his house. Nick and his family went to the restaurant as instructed, and Pierce spent two hours with them on his day off. The young Bond fan quickly became friends with his favorite agent and they shared jokes and laughs.

Just how does Nick describe the world’s most famous and cunning member of the British Secret Service?

“Really funny.”

Those may not be the exact words that the rest of the legions of James Bond fans worldwide would use to describe a man known for his female sidekicks, futuristic gadgets, and colorful nemeses, but they don’t know him like Make-A-Wish® kid Nick does.
