Sixteen-year-old Adam is a Trekker. He and his father watch the science fiction show "Star Trek Voyager" together. But little did Adam know, he would one day have the opportunity to watch himself on a television screen.
Volunteers from the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of the Mid-Atlantic offered the high school junior an opportunity to have a wish granted, and he chose to meet the stars of "Star Trek Voyager." The chapter arranged for Adam and his family to fly to Los Angeles, but Adam thought he was only going to be exchanging pleasantries with the actors. What he didn’t know is that he’d become their coworker.
Once in L.A., Adam found out he’d be spending more time than he anticipated on the set of "Star Trek Voyager." Adam was written into the season finale as a StarfleetAcademy student. His role required him to don a silver jumpsuit. While on the set, the Maryland teenager struck up conversations with Tinseltown’s workers, including Kate Mulgrew, who stars as Captain Kathryn Janeway on the show.
At Paramount Studios, Adam spent all day in his role as "Junior Cadet." His show was broadcast in late May on UPN. If you get a chance to watch a rerun of the 2001 season finale, look close and quickly. During the classroom scene, when a student stands up to ask a question, glance to the right and look for our budding actor.
