“ I wish to have my 1991 Cadillac DeVille restored”
Vincent , age 18
Massachusetts Chapter

Eighteen-year-old Vincent, who goes by “Vinny,” is a third-generation Cadillac owner, and his grandfather has played a big role in the tradition. Vinny’s grandfather, who is also named Vincent and is his namesake, bought the teen a used Cadillac DeVille – just like he did for Vinny’s dad at a similar age. It was a greatly appreciated gift, but the car needed a little work.

Enter the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Massachusetts.

Because he was battling a life-threatening medical condition, Vinny asked volunteers with the Massachusetts chapter to help him fix up the car. To illustrate his devotion to his car, the disciplined teen had been working two jobs to keep it insured, but treatments for his illness had cut into his time on the job. Bringing hope, strength and joy to Massachusetts’ children is no problem for the chapter, but a car makeover takes some specialized labor.

Enter car experts and philanthropic trendsetters UAW-GM.

For years, UAW-GM has served as the largest sponsor in the history of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. GM car dealers have embraced this spirit of giving, and a local GM dealer offered to donate the labor and servicing for the special car. Hard-working employees gave the DeVille an overhaul, including GM-donated chrome rims, new tires, tinted windows and fresh paint.

Vinny, his family, and representatives from the Foundation and UAW-GM unveil Vinny's "new" Cadillac.

Together, the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the GM car dealership unveiled the good-as-new “Caddie” to Vinny on a sunny summer day. The presentation ceremony involved Vinny’s mother, brother, wish granters and the friendly staff members of the dealership.

With Vinny back in the driver’s seat, he is ready to cruise through some hot days with his cool wheels.
