After the inception of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, interest in granting the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions quickly spread to other nations. In 1993, Make-A-Wish Foundation International was officially formed to serve the five countries outside the United States that were already granting wishes. Today, Make-A-Wish Foundation International has affiliates in 33 countries on five continents.
Make-A-Wish Foundation International has the same mission as Make-A-Wish Foundation of America – to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation of America grants the wishes of children in the United States, Guam and Puerto Rico through its 65 chapters, while Make-A-Wish Foundation International serves children outside the United States and its territories.
With the help of generous donors and 30,000 volunteers, the Foundation has granted more than 225,000 wishes worldwide, making it the world’s largest wish-granting organization. For more information about Make-A-Wish Foundation International, please visit worldwish.org.
