Chief Executive Officer

Make-A-Wish Foundation of Idaho – Boise, ID

This position manages and oversees the operation of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Idaho. The Chief Executive Officer is accountable to and works closely with the Board of Directors to forward the mission of the Foundation and ensure viability of the organization.

JOB/POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Represent the chapter as its Chief Executive Officer in all dealings with other organizations, individuals and the general public.

• Oversee all programs, services, activities and facilities to ensure that all program objectives are met in a timely fashion.

• Recruit, hire, train, supervise, evaluate and release staff in accord with chapter policies and state and federal law.

• Prepare chapter budget annually and with appropriate staff and board committees; submit to board for approval.

• Monitor receipts and expenditures and cash flow; report to board or finance committee regularly. Resolve any concerns or problems in conjunction with the finance committee.

• Decide matters of administrative and supervisory detail relative to chapter operation and maintenance, in accordance with policies and all applicable laws.

• Supervise the implementation of all Board and National policies.

• Participate as an ex-officio member of the Board of Directors and Board Committees. Further, contribute expertise and experience in all Board and Committee discussions.

• Assist the Board of Directors in identifying and recruiting applicants for Board positions.

• Provide Board Committees with competent staff support.

• Apply, in a timely fashion, for grants and funds budgeted for from outside sources.

• Research potential new sources of funds for existing programs.

• Ensure that the chapter has a visible and positive public image through media contact, speaking engagements, and presence at appropriate public functions.

• Remain current on non-profit issues and trends.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor of Arts/Science in a Social Science, Business or Non-Profit Management Program,

Master’s degree preferred.

• Minimum of five years experience in non-profit or public agency management, supervision of staff and volunteers and experience working with a board of directors.

• Demonstrated knowledge of board committee functions and structures.

• Working knowledge of non-profit fiscal management, including fund accounting and budgeting.

• Demonstrated ability in public speaking, clear and effective written and oral communications, and effective negotiation skills.

• Computer literacy.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Idaho, headquartered in Boise, is a nonprofit organization that grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions with hope, strength, and joy. One of 67 Make-A-Wish chapters in the U.S., MAWF of ID grants more than 60 magical wishes each year.

Reporting to the board of directors, the Chief Executive Officer provides visionary leadership and management of the chapter, including fundraising, public/community relations, program and operations management, and ensuring compliance with Make-A-Wish Foundation national standards.

The CEO is responsible for day-to-day management of the organization, including 4 paid staff, and 200 volunteers, and an operating budget of $1.5 million. Our ideal candidate will have demonstrated business leadership experience, including a proven track record in fundraising, fiscal management, short & long range planning; ability to build and lead effective teams; and strong communication & interpersonal skills.

Regional Director of Major Gifts

Make-A-Wish Foundation of America – Phoenix, AZ

The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of America, the nation's largest wish granting organization, is launching an unprecedented endowment campaign to raise funds that will allow the organization to grant even more wishes to children with life threatening illnesses. The first wish was granted 28 years ago in Phoenix, Arizona - the location of the national headquarters for the organization. Since then, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of America has granted 161,000 wishes. The Foundation is currently seeking three Regional Directors of Major Gifts, located in the following geographic areas: New York City metro area/New Jersey, Chicago and California. Responsibilities include cultivation and solicitation of $50,000+ major gifts experience securing gifts via face-to-face fundraising and also working with fundraising volunteers. Must be willing to travel 50% of the time to meet with prospects, donors, local Make-A-Wish chapters and the national office in Phoenix.

Senior Manager, Corporate Partnerships

Make-A-Wish Foundation of America – Phoenix, AZ

This position is responsible for the development and implementation of the Foundation’s new business development efforts including, but not limited to identifying and cultivating potential corporate leads, preparing sales and pitch materials, sponsor negotiations, and contract development. The individual supervises the sponsorship sales team and oversees the incoming lead process to ensure it runs effectively to qualify potential sponsors. The candidate collaborates with chapters and national board members to identify and solicit new corporate cash and in-kind support for the Foundation. The candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree, five years experience in non-profit or public agency fund-raising, sales, or marketing, and two years experience in a supervisory role. Demonstrated ability in national account management, excellent communication and presentation skills, and experience in expense and revenue budgeting required. Ability to travel for job-related duties is a necessity.

Senior Manager, Training and Development

Make-A-Wish Foundation of America – Phoenix, AZ

This position partners with senior leadership and subject matter experts in the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of all training initiatives. The individual serves as a centralized training and development resource to ensure content consistency in all programs, sources suitable training consultants and vendors, and insures that all projects are fully aligned with the Foundation’s strategic initiatives. This position manages the training program to support all functional groups within the organization, and supports the development of leaders and employees by identifying and providing resources, tools, processes and programs to meet identified needs. Bachelor’s degree and five years experience in the design, implementation, and facilitation of learning and development initiatives required. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management skills, the ability to present training materials and facilitate learning sessions, working knowledge of adult learning theory, and familiarity with information technology enabled delivery. In addition, strong relationship building and customer service skills, excellent communication skills, proficiency in MS Office applications, as well as the ability to travel for job-related functions are necessary.
