Subaru Asks Facebook Fans to Help Them Donate up to $250,000 to Charity with New “Share the Love” Voting Campaign

Fans given opportunity to vote for the Make-A-Wish Foundation®, a “Share the Love” charity, to receive $1 donation from Subaru for each vote.

PHOENIX - (November 19, 2011) – During the 2011 Subaru “Share the Love” event, Subaru will donate Share the Love$250 for every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased between November 19 – January 3, to one of five participating charities selected by the purchaser.

With the help of incredible supporters, the Make-A-Wish Foundation was voted in to be one of the five participating charities and is joined by the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals® ), Meals On Wheels Association of America, American Forests and Special Olympics. Subaru has donated nearly $15 million to charitable causes since the program’s inception three years ago and hopes to make that total $20 million by the end of this year’s campaign.

New to the “Share the Love” event this year is an additional opportunity for everyone to help “Share the Love” by voting for their favorite charity on Facebook. Consumers can visit the Subaru Facebook “Share the Love Charities” tab and vote for one of the five participating charities beginning today. Each vote will trigger a $1 donation, up to $250,000 or until the campaign ends January 3, 2012, for all five charities combined.

For each vote a charity receives, Subaru will donate $1.”

 

2011 Subaru “Share the Love” Charitable Beneficiaries

 

Consumers who purchase or lease a new Subaru vehicle during this year’s event can designate the $250 Subaru donation to any of the following organizations:

  • Make-A-Wish Foundation: grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. It has granted more than 212,000 wishes in the United States since 1980.
  • The ASPCA® (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®): works to rescue animals from abuse, pass humane laws and share resources with shelters across the country.
  • Meals On Wheels Association of America: provides national leadership to end senior hunger, offering home-delivered-meal services to people in need.
  • American Forests: restores and protects rural and urban forests worldwide. It is the oldest national conservation nonprofit in the country and the only one focused exclusively on forests.
  • Special Olympics: provides year-round sports and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
