Ned and Suzie Allen

A legacy of giving

What began as a tragedy for one family has turned into a legacy of giving to children who need strength, hope and joy in their lives. When longtime Make-A-Wish® supporters Ned and Suzie Allen lost their grandson Chip in 2003, they were devastated.

Ned & Suzie AllenBut despair quickly turned into determination when the Allens established a memorial fund. The fund provided a way to keep Chip’s memory alive — along with the dreams of children with life-threatening medical conditions. “With an endowment, the money would be there in perpetuity, and we wanted Chip’s name to live on,” Suzie said.

The Allens had supported Make-A-Wish in the past, and they wanted to ensure that their giving would last beyond their lifetime. Thanks to the Allens’ gift, the Chip Allen Memorial Fund provides the resources to grant two wishes every year. The Allens are committed to helping the fund grow every year, leaving a lasting legacy in honor of Chip.

For every little child we help through Make-A-Wish, we are making a friend for Chip in heaven.”
